Job summary

The Department of Roads and Transport in Gauteng is inviting applications for entry‑level road construction and maintenance workers. Positions involve routine road work, safety compliance, and basic road infrastructure tasks across Tshwane and Johannesburg areas.

Qualifications

• NQF level 1 qualification or ABET level 4 certificate (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine road construction and maintenance according to approved work programmes and safety standards.
• Carry out pothole patching, crack sealing, surfacing, and re-gravelling of roads.
• Construct, repair, and maintain road infrastructure, including earthworks, culverts, and drainage systems.
• Clean and maintain road reserves, sidewalks, and related infrastructure.
• Install, replace, and repair road signs, markings, and delineators.
• Assist with erection and maintenance of road fencing and guardrails.
• Operate and maintain hand tools, small plant, and specialised equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work site and adhere to health and safety requirements.
• Assist with traffic accommodation and other road maintenance tasks as directed by the supervisor.
