Job summary

Pro Select Consulting is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic for a leading road construction and rehabilitation company in Durban. You will maintain, service and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment, earthmoving machinery and fleet vehicles.

Road construction and asphalt plant experience is highly advantageous; you will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and keep detailed service records while working on-site and in our workshop.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel/Heavy-Duty Mechanic or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
• Extensive experience with heavy-duty plant, earthmoving equipment and road construction machinery.
• Proven experience diagnosing diesel-powered equipment and reading manuals/schematics.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to work on-site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance across heavy plant and vehicle fleet.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Carry out servicing and maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Attend breakdowns and perform fault-finding on site or in workshop.
• Maintain accurate service, maintenance and repair records for equipment.
• Ensure repairs are completed safely and to a high standard.
