Key Purpose

The key purpose is to support the risk management function in the Life and Invest business by delivering and facilitating the risk management programme and activities.

Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:

  1. Consistent, timely delivery of risk reporting requirements for the Life and Invest business.
  2. Stakeholder management—ensuring accurate reporting of risk exposures through regular engagement with management.
  3. Managing risk profiles to keep information relevant, up-to-date, and reflective of the business environment.
  4. Performing risk assessments as required.
  5. Supporting the Head of Risk in delivering the Risk Management plan.
  6. Providing technical risk management support in meetings and reviews.
  7. Promoting a strong risk management culture through engagement and challenge.
  8. Supporting and guiding junior staff.

Education and Experience

Essential:

  1. Matric
  2. BCom, BSc (Risk Management or Finance) from an accredited institution
  3. 3 years’ work experience in risk management or related roles

Advantageous:

  1. Risk Management degree
  2. 3 years’ experience as a Risk Analyst or Risk Manager

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

  1. Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance in the SA financial sector
  2. Strong analytical and communication skills
  3. Project management skills in risk assessment, mitigation, and compliance
  4. At least 4 years of experience in insurance and/or investment platforms

Advantageous:

  1. Familiarity with risk management frameworks such as COSO, ISO 31000, or NIST
