Job summary

Sarens is seeking a Rigger to safely and efficiently execute rigging and lifting activities on site. The role requires planning and performing lifting operations in line with company procedures, legal requirements, client standards, and approved lifting plans, while upholding the highest safety standards.

The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ rigging experience, with knowledge of rigging practices, load handling, and the ability to interpret lifting plans.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in rigging and lifting operations in construction, heavy lifting, renewables or industrial settings.
• Wind farm or renewable energy project experience is advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging practices and load handling techniques.
• Ability to read lifting plans, rigging drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness.
• A valid driver’s license is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, inspect and maintain rigging equipment and lifting accessories.
• Perform rigging activities per approved lifting plans and risk assessments.
• Ensure all lifting gear is certified, inspected and fit for purpose.
• Calculate load weights, centres of gravity and select rigging arrangements.
• Direct and coordinate lifting with crane operators and lifting teams.
• Conduct pre-use inspections of rigging gear and remove defective equipment.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and SHEQ initiatives.
• Identify hazards and implement control measures during lifting operations.
• Ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements and company procedures.
• Maintain inspection records and lifting documentation.
• Support safety, quality and operational improvement initiatives.
