Return to Nursing Practice Programme 2025. This programme is an exciting collaboration with NHS Highland and Glasgow Caledonian University.
We are now actively recruiting for our next cohort, which will start on 8th September 2025. This cohort will focus on SCPHN, Midwifery, Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities, and Mental Health Nursing.
Nurses and midwives leave the profession over time for various reasons, such as personal circumstances or career breaks. This programme offers a rewarding opportunity for nurses and midwives to re-enter the profession, bringing their skills and experience back to patient care.
Christine Campbell, an Integrated Midwife in Skye and Lochalsh, shares her experience:
"I completed the Return to Practice Programme in 2021, jointly run by Robert Gordon's University and NHS Highland. NHS Highland supported me through the course on Band 2, followed by a one-year, post-graduate, re-registration Band 5 midwifery post, allowing me to start working while being mentored. The programme includes a 7-week full-time online academic course covering the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Midwives and 450 practice hours tailored to my needs, completed in NHS Highland. This experience enabled me to return to midwifery after a 12-year break and continue working in a remote community."
