eCommerce Retoucher

Cape Union Mart Group – In-House Photography Studio

Montague Gardens, Cape Town

We’re looking for a dedicated and passionate Retoucher to join our fast-paced, highly creative eCommerce Photography Studio team. As part of our in-house studio, you’ll play a critical role in delivering high-quality product imagery at scale—empowering our brands to drive sales and engage customers across multiple digital platforms.

Reporting to the eCommerce Studio Manager, this role requires a highly skilled retoucher with experience managing high volumes of product images for eCommerce and/or print. You’ll work closely with photographers, the QA team, and other studio colleagues to ensure every image meets our exacting standards—supporting our mission to deliver world-class digital content.

This is an on-site role based at our Montague Gardens studio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Retouch product photography for use across all digital channels—including colour correction, background removal, cleaning product imperfections, and adding shadows/reflections as needed.
  • Follow strict QA guidelines and respond constructively to feedback to ensure consistent image quality.
  • Maintain file management and workflow standards, including correct naming conventions and non-destructive editing practices.
  • Work at a fast, consistent pace while upholding high-quality output.
  • Prioritise multiple projects effectively to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with photographers, stylists, and QA to execute creative post-production needs and achieve studio goals.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth post-production processes.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in eCommerce photography retouching – essential.
  • Qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in product and commercial photography retouching.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge & Capture One.
  • Mastery of Photoshop techniques: selection, extraction, masking/clipping, tonal & colour adjustments.
  • Solid understanding of photographic lighting and how to enhance/manipulate it in post-production.
  • Familiarity with digital workflows, file management, and workflow tools (e.g. JIRA, Monday.com).
  • Knowledge of product photography and digital enhancement best practices.
