Overview

Our client in the long term/short term industry in Claremont, Cape Town, has a 12 month contract for a Retail Worksite Sales Manager.

Overview of this role: As our Retail Worksite Sales Manager, you’ll spearhead the growth of our new distribution channel by leading a high-performing team of worksite specialists. You will not only drive team sales performance but also be responsible for opening new employer group sites, building partnerships, and expanding our footprint in Cape Town, followed by other regions.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a strategic thinker and people-first coach who is deeply experienced in insurance sales and worksite dynamics. You’ll lead from the front, coaching your team through face-to-face worksite engagement while ensuring smooth digital onboarding via tablets or laptops.

What You’ll be doing

You will own the success of the worksite sales team by guiding daily operations, expanding access to new employer groups, and ensuring each team member delivers measurable sales outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a team of Retail Worksite Sales Specialists
  • Recruit, train, coach, and retain high-performing salespeople
  • Secure access to new worksites (municipalities, government depts., large employers)
  • Identify and facilitate stop order or PERSAL access where applicable
  • Conduct regular field coaching sessions and performance reviews
  • Track, interpret and act on key sales and performance metrics (e.g. weekly targets, take-up, persistency)
  • Maintain close relationships with employer reps, HR, and decision-makers
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to refine sales strategy and drive growth
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in long or short-term insurance, with team leadership responsibilities
  • RE5 certificate and RE1 certificate OR RE5 and 120 credits (Wealth Management or relevant qualification).
  • Matric certificate
  • Demonstrated success in running and growing a worksite insurance sales team
  • Existing network and access to Cape Town-based worksites (municipal/government)
  • Ability to build new relationships and negotiate access to employer groups
  • Proven experience in recruiting, coaching, and motivating salespeople
  • Comfortable with technology and leading a team using tablet/laptop-based sales systems
  • Knowledge of stop order and PERSAL systems is a distinct advantage
  • Strong analytical skills — the ability to read reports, interpret sales data, and take action based on key performance indicators
  • Willingness to travel
  • Based in Cape Town
