Introduction
Based in Bloemfontein, this position aims to implement, test, and maintain retail systems software, networks, hardware, and peripheral equipment across all retail stores serviced by the SPAR South Rand Distribution Centre. The role also involves ensuring users are knowledgeable about system processes to optimize store performance.
Job Description
Key Performance Areas
- Maintain close working relationships with SPAR retailers.
- Set up, configure, install, and support hardware, peripheral equipment, operating systems, networks, and retail systems software in retail stores.
- Support retail store networks, equipment, and software systems.
- Resolve hardware, software, and business processing issues reported through the Help Desk.
- Conduct software testing on new software releases.
- Advise retailers on the effective use of retail systems.
- Provide training for store owners and staff, preparing user training manuals where necessary.
- Communicate effectively with store owners, staff, and other stakeholders to provide excellent service, support, and mentorship.
- Maintain comprehensive statistics of systems implemented to uphold IT standards.
- Advise and implement best operating procedures.
- Manage all system upgrades, rollouts, and store openings.
- Manage IT project work at retail according to set timelines.
- Complete system audits at retail stores, implementing and monitoring system standards checklists.
- Analyze and interpret predefined system reports to increase efficiencies and reduce waste/loss.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- A Matric Certificate.
- An IT Diploma is advantageous.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge and experience with the SIGMA application within a SPAR store environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of servers, networking, desktop operating systems, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Working knowledge of MSSQL databases.
- Project management training skills.
- Experience with retail software applications is advantageous.
- Comprehensive FMCG retail business knowledge and supervisory management experience are advantageous.
