Description: Our national client, operating in the retail space, is seeking to employ an experienced Retail Store Manager for their store based in the Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg.

Requirements:

  1. Must have a grade 12.
  2. Experience – Minimum 5 years as a Retail Manager.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  1. Knowledge of the Product: It is your responsibility to ensure that the staff, including yourself, is knowledgeable regarding all the products that we sell. These products will range from in-house products to products sourced from external suppliers.
  2. Customer Service: Customer service essentially means going above and beyond to meet the customers' expectations or requirements.
  3. Customer Care: Customer care means how well customers are taken care of while they interact with the brand/company/employees.
  4. Sales Targets: You are responsible for meeting the sales targets/budgets set for the store. Daily targets should be set and measured as the month progresses to determine how far ahead/behind the store is in achieving the requirement. If behind, innovative thinking may be required to get back on target.
  5. Selling Skills: In every sale, there is an opportunity to add on to the sale. Complementary products to the product being bought should be suggested. Up-Sell: This skill involves getting a customer to purchase a more expensive item than originally intended by promoting its features, advantages, and benefits.
  6. Merchandising and Display: This is a key factor in attracting customers into the retail store.
  7. Marketing: Ensure that all marketing material is displayed properly in the store, kept in good presentable shape, and that outdated material is taken down and stored safely for future use. Look for potential marketing opportunities within the shopping centre and engage with the shopping centre marketing team to understand their plans.
  8. Administration Duties: Responsibilities include cash ups, managing new stock codes and descriptions, costs, retail pricing, and stock receipts. Ensure correct barcoding to avoid pricing issues.
  9. Safety and Security: Adhere to safety and security requirements identified by centre management and the Occupational and Safety Act regulations. Ensure that stock and assets are kept safe and secure.
  10. Asset Protection and Security: Ensure all assets of the Retail Store are looked after and protected from theft.
  11. Management: All points mentioned need to be managed daily. It is the responsibility of the Manager to ensure this is happening by identifying what needs to be done and ensuring it is carried out, either by giving instructions to the staff or doing it yourself.
