Overview
Retail Sales Representative required in Midrand, Johannesburg.
The Sales Representative will be responsible for supporting business growth by increasing sales within the existing client base and acquiring new clients.
The role requires strong relationship-building, excellent customer service, and the ability to identify opportunities for upselling and expanding the product portfolio.
Salary: R13 000 – R15 000 Monthly (Plus commission).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Bring in new clients and establish long-term relationships.
- Target at least one new customer acquisition per month.
- Maintain regular contact with assigned clients via visits, calls, WhatsApp, and emails.
- Ensure clients are fully informed about new products, promotions, and discounts.
- Account Servicing & Sales Growth
- Assist customers in placing orders and ensure timely order completion.
- Conduct in-person visits to meet owners/key staff and discuss business needs.
- Review stock, manage shelving, and ensure correct product display.
- Upsell and promote portfolio growth by expanding product ranges.
- Assess and collect damaged stock/returns within company guidelines and manage the credit note process.
- Review account status with customers and communicate outstanding balances.
- Ensure delivery commitments are met or exceeded.
- Business Communication & Reporting
- Act as a communication link between customers and the business.
- Report on client issues, opportunities, and market trends to management.
- Identify opportunities for product range expansion and share with management.
- Keep customers informed of company policies, processes, and new developments.
- Product Knowledge & Promotion
- Maintain a strong understanding of the full product portfolio.
- Proactively promote products to existing and new clients.
Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12 (a sales or marketing qualification is advantageous).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in sales, preferably within retail, FMCG, or distribution.
- Proven track record in client acquisition and account management.
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
