Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Retail Properties Manager / Developer to join their Properties Department. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the retail property landscape and a proven track record in property development or retail property management.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify new retail sites and expansion opportunities in South Africa and neighboring countries.
• Negotiate prime retail locations in malls, new developments, or towns on behalf of the company.
• Collaborate with internal teams to assess and finalize new store proposals.
• Conduct feasibility studies, including market profiling and merchandise mix recommendations.
• Negotiate and manage lease agreements, ensuring favorable terms and compliance.
• Oversee timely renewal of existing leases and ensure adherence to lease conditions.
• Address and resolve store maintenance issues.
• Manage landlord-related queries, including lease and account discrepancies.

Qualifications & Experience

• A relevant tertiary qualification (Financial, Legal, Property Management, etc.) is preferred but not essential.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in retail property development or retail property management .
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail with a strategic and solution-driven mindset
• Strong understanding of lease agreements and property principles
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently
• Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant property management tools
