Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton, Gauteng, seeks an Industrial Engineer specializing in logistics and distribution to optimize warehouse operations, transport networks and inventory management for cost-efficient flow of goods from suppliers to customers.

You will lead data-driven improvements, develop KPI metrics and collaborate with procurement, sales and operations to deliver measurable increases in throughput and service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in industrial engineering focused on logistics, warehousing and distribution.
• Proven experience in optimizing supply chain processes and implementing Lean/Six Sigma.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively.
• Experience in fast-paced retail or distribution environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current logistics and distribution processes to identify optimization opportunities.
• Design and implement efficient warehouse layouts and material flow strategies.
• Develop and manage inventory control systems to minimize stockouts and reduce holding costs.
• Optimize transportation routes and carrier performance to reduce shipping costs and improve delivery times.
• Utilize data analytics and simulations to model and improve supply chain performance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (procurement, sales, operations) and external partners (carriers, 3PLs).
• Implement and maintain Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related technologies.
• Develop and track KPIs for logistics and distribution operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements within distribution centers.
• Lead projects aimed at improving throughput, reducing errors, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
