Job description

Retail Leasing Manager

Our client, known for their expertise in asset management, property development, and retail leasing, is looking to appoint a Retail Leasing Manager.

The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience in retail leasing with a proven record of securing national, international, or niche tenants. This position entails a temporary 12-month contract.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage all leasing operations, including reviewing and negotiating lease transactions and agreements.
  2. Lease existing and newly developed retail spaces to maintain and grow market share.
  3. Support leasing strategy and project direction.
  4. Maximize occupancy and rental income for retail units.
  5. Engage with tenants to ensure high-quality tenancy.
  6. Set and achieve rental income targets.
  7. Negotiate directly with prospective tenants.
  8. Prepare and review tenancy mixes for optimal retail asset performance.
  9. Provide regular leasing progress reports to the Divisional Director.
  10. Maximize rental income and lease terms through negotiations.
  11. Ensure leasing targets are met for both existing portfolios and new developments.
  12. Activate leasing promptly to minimize vacancy periods.
  13. Maintain relationships with tenants and industry professionals.
  14. Source and secure desired retailers.
  15. Maintain and review a database of prospective tenants.
  16. Conduct market research on new brands and retail trends.
  17. Monitor competitor developments, rentals, and major deals.
  18. Review shopper profile impacts on retail sector performance.
  19. Stay updated on market changes and build industry networks.
  20. Manage tenant paperwork and lease documentation accurately.
  21. Oversee deals from inception to completion, including handovers.
Minimum Requirements
  • National Senior Certificate.
  • A relevant degree or diploma in Retail Management is advantageous.
  • Registered and hold an active FFC.
  • Hold a SACSC Certificate.
  • 4-5 years of proven retail leasing experience with successful lease agreements with national, international, or niche tenants.
  • Experience managing retail centers exceeding 20,000 m² in a new development setting.
  • Valid Driver's License.
