My client, a leading and well-known retailer, is seeking an experienced Branch / Store Manager for their Piketberg store, approximately 130km north of Cape Town.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage the store and staff, oversee sales, ensure financial targets are met, generate profit, and stay within budget.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma / Grade 12 with maths
  • Experience managing a retail store
  • Previous experience in the furniture retail industry
  • Knowledge of the local area and existing relationships within the farming/business community
  • Understanding of financial reporting
  • Strong product knowledge
  • Experience managing teams, including performance management and industrial relations
  • Computer literacy
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Driver's license
  • SA Citizens only
  • Clear criminal and credit record
  • Must reside in Piketberg area

DUTIES
Financial Management
  1. Manage sales and achieve targets
  2. Manage profits and reach financial goals
  3. Minimize bad debt
  4. Manage store budget including petty cash
Customer Management
  1. Oversee customer complaints and resolution
  2. Maintain and expand customer relationships
  3. Ensure follow-up services
Sales
  1. Set daily sales targets
  2. Manage delivery charges
Credit Control
  1. Authorize HP deals and ensure paperwork
  2. Handle insurance claims efficiently
  3. Oversee collection of arrears
Stock Control
  1. Maintain stock levels and weekly replenishments
  2. Oversee stock movements and manage aged/repossessed goods
  3. Conduct stock counts and resolve discrepancies
Fixed Asset Management
  1. Oversee fixed assets and related paperwork
  2. Resolve variances from stock takes
Cash Control
  1. Authorize daily cash-ups and banking
  2. Resolve variances and monitor cash sales
Deliveries and Collections
  1. Schedule and oversee deliveries and collections
  2. Maintain delivery vehicle condition
Marketing
  1. Implement marketing plans and promotions
  2. Oversee display policies and promotional events
Human Resources & Staff Management
  1. Manage staff, delegate duties, and evaluate performance
  2. Handle disciplinary issues and staff attendance
  3. Conduct staff meetings and performance reviews
  4. Recruit and train new staff
Staff Training
  1. Organize product and supplier training
  2. Maintain training records
Meetings & Target Setting
  1. Conduct daily target-setting meetings
  2. Hold weekly sales and operations meetings
Administration
  1. Manage sales, credit, stock, and delivery functions
  2. Oversee branch communication and reporting
IT Management
  1. Ensure IT policies and systems run smoothly
  2. Manage backups and troubleshoot issues
Housekeeping
  1. Oversee daily cleaning and store maintenance
