Restaurant Manager / Head Waiter

The Head Waiter assists the Maitre D' Hotel and the Asst. Maitre D’Hotel in supervising all Food and Beverage service activities. Ensures that the highest quality of service is maintained in the assigned area and controls that the staff follows MSC Cruises policies and procedure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervises all Waiters, Asst. Waiters and Buffet Staff work as a team in the assigned area;
2. Ensures that assigned station are ready on time and guests are welcomed using their names.
3. Carefully supervises the assigned section to ensure guest satisfaction.
4. Effectively replaces waiters, if necessary, in order to maintain service standards.
5. Maximizes revenue for food and beverage products.
6. Oversees table settings and ensures that all equipment is used correctly to avoid unnecessary damage.
7. Ensures that the assigned areas comply with sanitation procedures (USPH);
8. Monitors the restaurant’s inventory.
9. Ensures that the staff is familiar with menu content, wine list, and food and wine pairing.

POSITION INFO :

Job Requirements: skills, competencies, experience :

1. Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional European language is considered an advantage (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish, and French).
2. High School certificate is an advantage or equivalent experience on board Cruise Ships.
3. Experience within the same position in 4 / 5-star restaurant, hotel or resort is a strong advantage.
4. Full knowledge of USPH standards.
5. Good management and organization skills;
6. Interpersonal and communication skills;
7. Passion for hospitality and customer service driven.
8. Cruise industry experience is an advantage.
9. STCW95 certification is compulsory (basic firefighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security, and social responsibility);
10. A recognized medical certification is required before starting to work on board.
