Job description

As a Demi Chef in our upcoming signature restaurant at Mount Nelson, you are part of a team that shapes the culinary experience of our guests. In this role, you will provide crucial support in the kitchen brigade, responsible for efficient food preparation, station management, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and quality in our new signature restaurant, which offers an immersive marine dining experience, transporting guests into the mysterious beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding Two Oceans.

Open 5 days a week, with set off days being Sunday and Monday, launching in Quarter 4 2025.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing ingredients, cooking dishes according to recipes, and ensuring exceptional food quality.
  • Monitoring stock levels and informing senior chefs when supplies are low.
  • Plating and presenting meal items as per the seniors’ instructions.
  • Ensuring adherence to all health, safety and security procedures in the Kitchen.
  • Maintain full awareness of all menu items, their recipes, methods of production and presentation standards.

What You Bring:

  • Graduate from a Food Production Course from a reputed institute – advantageous.
  • 2-5 years relevant working experience, within hospitality and or standalone restaurants will be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of hygiene & safety standards.
  • Proven track of food preparation, presentation and preservation knowledge is essential
