Job Description

The Africa Consulting Services (ACS) Resource Management Lead is responsible for ensuing effective and optimal staffing. This role proactively identifies, and solutions complex talent needs and facilitate the connection of people to projects on current and future client demand. There is constant communication with the Business Units to ensure their talent needs are prioritized.

Overview of the Role:

  • Develop one Africa-wide planning team and an Africa-wide planning culture as opposed to a regional planning culture
  • Manage availability and fulfil project demand by using permanent resources, contractors, or Alliance partners to maximise efficiency and ensuring that delivery increases utilisation whilst protecting margin
  • Liaises and consults with Partners, Directors & Project Managers to help deliver creative solutions to resourcing problems (e.g. double bookings, conflicts, or staff shortages on assignments)

Operational Resource Planning:

  • Liaise with senior members of the Offering Portfolio to confirm their resource requirements, including keeping abreast of new projects, project extensions and bid wins
  • Ensure that all client planning is maintained accurately in DayShape and highlight discrepancies
  • Implement internal controls that will monitor:
    • Identify resources that are over planned/under planned and intervene
    • Proactively identifies client service and technical issues and independently implement resolutions to address these
  • Ensure that there is flexibility in the system to cope with the unplanned resourcing needs when new work has been won
  • Agree on practitioner forecasts of chargeable and non-chargeable work and resolve any discrepancies
  • Provide an accurate assessment of staff needs for demand fulfilment in across all ACS Offices

Collaborate with HR & Talent:

  • Liaise with HR BPs to ensure accuracy of practitioner information and advise on optimal resourcing for their business unit
  • Build strong relationships with Consultants at all levels to match their career aspirations and development needs and pro-actively work with Consultants, project managers and business leaders to help achieve these
  • Ensure there is an up-to-date inventory of all Consultant’s skills and capabilities that are aligned to the Offering Portfolio
  • Ensure that practitioners are appropriately matched to jobs which are challenging and developmental
  • Assist the team in satisfying practitioners’ needs and aspirations for their career development

Reporting & Insights:

  • Provide the LeadCo and Operational Directors with detailed monthly staff utilisation reports and insights per office and Offering Portfolio
  • Provides input into annual budget to Offering Leads and Operations Directors for drafting of budget for Offering Portfolios
  • Forecast utilisation, accuracy, and available resources to management on a weekly basis
  • Prepare weekly management and ad-hoc reports on availability and forecast utilisation/revenue
Qualifications
  • University degree (or equivalent)
  • Certifications in BI, MI or Data Analysis would be an advantage

Reporting & Insights:

  • 6-8 years Resource Management experience within a Professional Services industry and an understanding of Consulting - preferably stakeholder accountability
  • Ability to compile high quality data analysis various utilising data sources to create insights
  • Crafting insights for contribution into various leadership presentations for LeadCo engagements
