Job summary

Ivanplats is searching for a Resource Geologist for its mining project in Limpopo. The successful candidate will manage geological data interpretation, mineral resource management, and enforce safety protocols while working closely with the Geology and Mining teams. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years' experience and an Honours degree in Geology.

Ivanplats is looking for a RESOURCE GEOLOGIST X 1 REF: IVP-GEO-2501

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Honours qualification in Geology.
• 10 years’ experience within an applicable practical mining environment.
• 5 years’ management level experience in geological data interpretation, mineral resource management, 3D softwares and database management
• Experienced and proficient in daily underground geological control and applicable software.
• Sound knowledge pertaining to industry standard geology practices and geological structural analyses.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  
  

Suitable candidate must have the following work experience:

• Lead a Mineral Resource Management Function with the Geology Department
• Geological data analysis and interpretation from multiple streams such as (UG mapping, core logging and geological structural modelling)
• Geological modelling, mineral resource estimation and block modelling
• Geological database management and develop QAQC practices (acQuire)
• Advanced experience in Leapfrog and Datamine 3D software
• Comply with mine safety standards and maintain a safe work environment
• Draft technical reports
• Familiar with Reporting Codes i.e. NI43-101
• Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act
  
  

Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Adherence and enforce all safety protocols for safe working environment.
• Act as liaison between Geology and Mining.
• Establish grade control drilling and modelling processes, operational mine geology procedures, systems, and processes.
