Job Purpose
The Property Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations, day-to-day staff management and guest engagement. They should be an ambassador for the brand and provide leadership to all departments in order to maximize operations and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience. They must be available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations functions of the property
- Hold regular briefings and meetings with staff members
- Ensure full compliance to operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards
- Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment
- Handle complaints and oversee the service recovery procedures
- Manage ongoing profitability of the property, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
- Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the property
- Develop improvement actions and carry out cost savings
- Understand financial statements and react with impactful strategies
- Closely monitor the hotel's business reports on a daily basis and make decisions accordingly
- Assist in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment and contract with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services
- Act as a final decision maker in hiring key staff
- Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement
- Participate in new client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required
- Safeguard the quality of operations both internally and externally during audits
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations, and other legal requirements
People Specification
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Preferred Qualification
A degree / diploma in hotel management or a related field
Minimum Experience Level
5 years’ experience in hospitality management position or similar
