The Residential Social Care Worker will ensure the welfare of those in their care and act as an advocate when appropriate. Responsibilities include contributing to the planning and evaluation of care programs tailored to individual and group needs, based on consultations with clients and their support networks.

Within the residential and special care setting, the worker will provide a safe, caring environment for children and young people, aiming to address issues preventing them from living at home or foster care, and preparing them for independent living with aftercare support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Care and Support: Treat children and families with dignity and respect. Develop, implement, and evaluate care, placement, and treatment plans. Incorporate understanding of past experiences into practice. Engage in crisis management and physical interventions as per policy.
  2. Family and Community Engagement: Collaborate with families and agencies. Participate in care and development meetings. Provide feedback on progress.
  3. Supportive and Advocacy: Promote the rights and welfare of children and young people. Support their community and family engagement. Build relationships with traumatized children and advocate for their well-being.
  4. Organizational and Management: Manage home tasks such as budgeting and hygiene. Organize documents and finances. Arrange activities and ensure safety protocols.
  5. Educational and Developmental Support: Promote attendance at educational and medical appointments. Engage in age-appropriate activities. Assist with referrals to other services.
  6. Safety and Crisis Management: Supervise outings, maintain safety protocols, and respond to incidents promptly, including cases of absconding or abuse.

The role may involve additional duties and requires willingness to relocate to Ireland.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field (preferred). Over 5 years of experience in residential care or working with children and young people. Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic interventions. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and commitment to safeguarding.
