Job summary

Placements24 seeks a nurturing and dedicated Child and Youth Care Worker to join a residential care facility in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children and youths in out-of-home care, fostering emotional, social, and educational development.

You will meet the daily needs of residents, build relationships, and collaborate with social workers and educators to support individual care plans in the Eastern Cape community.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Child and Youth Care Work or a related field.
• Experience working with children or youth in a residential or care setting is essential.
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and positive discipline techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Patience, resilience, and genuine commitment to child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to children and youth, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Assist residents with daily routines including personal hygiene, meals, homework, and recreation.
• Implement behavior management strategies and promote positive social interactions.
• Develop and maintain supportive relationships with children and youth in your care.
• Collaborate with social workers, educators, and other professionals to support each child's care plan.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reports on resident progress and incidents.
