Job description

Civil Engineering Technician / Technologist

We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Technician / Technologist to provide support to our engineering team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Executing written and verbal instructions provided by our Head Engineer.
  2. Undertaking technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
  3. Using various computer software to develop detailed designs.
  4. Performing complex calculations.
  5. Liaising with clients and professionals such as architects and subcontractors.
  6. Compiling job specifications and supervising tendering procedures.
  7. Resolving design and development issues.
  8. Managing budgets and project resources.
  9. Scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries.
  10. Ensuring project compliance with legal requirements, especially health and safety standards.
  11. Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
  12. Ensuring projects are completed within budget and on schedule.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  1. National Diploma in Civil Engineering / B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
  2. Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician / Technologist.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of verifiable postgraduate experience in a similar role.
  4. Fluency in English.
  5. Valid driver's license.
  6. Willingness to relocate to Richards Bay, KwaZulu Natal.
  7. Knowledge of design and specifications.
  8. Experience with checking and testing materials.
  9. Experience with temporary works inspection.
  10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  11. Knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
  12. Attention to detail, teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to interpret engineering documents and drawings.
