Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of Reservoir Engineer experience with hands-on simulation.
• Proficiency in ECLIPSE, CMG, TOUGH+ and pre/post-processing tools.
• Solid understanding of reservoir engineering, fluid flow, and EOR methods.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking an analytical and experienced Reservoir Engineer to join their technical team, focusing on optimizing hydrocarbon recovery from existing fields and evaluating new opportunities in the Paarl area. This role is critical for understanding reservoir performance, predicting future production, and recommending strategies for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). You will work with advanced reservoir simulation tools and integrate geological and production data to maximize asset value within the oil and gas industry . The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative skills, a deep understanding of reservoir mechanics, and the ability to translate complex reservoir behavior into actionable operational recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain dynamic reservoir simulation models to predict future performance under various production scenarios.
• Analyze production data, decline curves, and well test results to assess reservoir characteristics and performance.
• Recommend and evaluate enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods and other recovery enhancement techniques.
• Perform reserves estimation and economic evaluations for development projects and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with geologists, production engineers, and drilling teams to define optimal development plans.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for asset management and investment decisions.
• Monitor reservoir performance and identify opportunities for optimization and debottlenecking.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Reservoir Engineer , with hands-on simulation experience.
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, CMG suite, TOUGH+) and associated pre/post-processing tools.
• Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid flow in porous media, and EOR methods.
• Experience with reserves reporting standards (e.g., SPE PRMS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
