General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG), is offering an opportunity for Reserving Actuary in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with financial reporting on a US GAAP and IFRS basis
• Assist with regulatory reporting for SAM and Solvency II
• Engage with internal and external auditors after the year-end
• Assist with system design developments required from a US GAAP LDTI and IFRS 17 perspective
• Analyze valuation data and results to gain insight into the business
• Develop and maintain tools to analyze actuarial data for management and regulatory reporting
• Monitor and provide management information
• Participate in international projects (e.g., US GAAP LDTI / IFRS 17 / Admin Data Systems projects)
• Automate models and business processes
• Analyze and assess valuation data for experience studies or assumption setting

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified actuary with at least 3 years’ experience
• Excellent IT skills (MS Office, SQL Server, working with large datasets)
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially in new situations or with clients
• Excellent actuarial modeling, data, and statistical analysis skills
• Knowledge of R, Python, and GGY AXIS is advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Pursuit of excellence in execution and delivery
• Self-motivated with a flexible attitude and enthusiasm
