General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG), is offering an opportunity for a Reserving Actuary in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with financial reporting on a US GAAP and IFRS basis
• Assist with regulatory reporting for SAM and Solvency II
• Engage with internal and external auditors after the year-end
• Assist with system design developments required for US GAAP LDTI and IFRS 17
• Analyse valuation data and results for deeper business insights
• Develop and maintain tools to analyse actuarial data for management and regulatory reporting
• Monitor and provide management information
• Participate in international projects (e.g., US GAAP LDTI, IFRS 17, Admin Data Systems)
• Automate models and business processes
• Analyse valuation data for experience studies or assumption setting

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified actuary with 3+ years’ experience
• Excellent IT skills (MS Office, SQL Server, large datasets)
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially in new situations or client interactions
• Proficiency in actuarial modelling, data, and statistical analysis
• Knowledge of R, Python, GGY AXIS advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Commitment to excellence in execution and delivery
• Self-motivated, flexible, enthusiastic
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Confident communication with senior colleagues
