Job summary

A leading health research institute in Cape Town is seeking a candidate for a position focused on screening TB suspects and recruiting study participants. The ideal candidate should have experience in a clinical environment, excellent communication skills in English and Xhosa, and knowledge of medical terminology. This 6-month fixed-term contract involves administrative duties, community outreach, and providing support to participants during the screening process.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Screening of TB suspects.

Overview

POSITION INFO :

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (Grade 12) advantageous
  • Experience in a clinic environment
  • Sound knowledge of recruiting area (Nyanga, Lower Crossroads, Klipfontein and Eastridge)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (especially TB and HIV)
  • Valid GCP (Good Clinical Practice) Certificate (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication (English and Xhosa) and interpersonal skills
  • Computer Literacy (advantageous)
  • Proactive and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of integrity and trustworthiness
Responsibilities
  • Screening of TB suspects
  • Recruitment and consenting of study participants
  • Directly Observed Therapy (DOTS)
  • Maintain accurate records of patient screenings and recruitments
  • Administrative duties related to clinic and research site responsibilities
  • Retention and follow-up of study participants (to attend appointments)
  • Do home visits to participants who default their appointments
  • Keep management informed of participants and report any irregularities
  • Provide education and support to participants during the screening process
  • Educate participants on their medication, research, TB / HIV and adherence
  • Do health talks and together with the clinic staff, plan and implement community outreaches
Additional Information
  • 6-month Fixed Term Contract
  • This position will be based at one of the community clinics
  • Working hours 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
