Placements24 is seeking a Research Scientist in Mossel Bay to join a dedicated R&D team. The role focuses on designing and executing multi-step synthetic routes for novel organic compounds, optimizing conditions, and characterizing products using NMR, MS, IR, and HPLC. Collaboration with chemists and researchers will drive innovative projects and advancements.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, strong lab skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related field.
• Proven experience in modern organic synthesis techniques and reaction mechanisms.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic and chromatographic methods for characterization.
• Strong understanding of stereochemistry, asymmetric synthesis and catalysis is desirable.
• Independent work and collaborative research capability.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute complex synthetic pathways to access novel organic molecules and intermediates.
• Optimize reaction conditions, purification techniques, and scale-up procedures.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using NMR, MS, IR and HPLC.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks and prepare technical reports.
