Department Description

The Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) is an interdisciplinary research centre located in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management. To support its expanding research programme, the SCIS wishes to appoint a Research Project Officer to assist the research team with key operational and project management related tasks. They will work closely with the working on the Social Dimensions of Digital Economy programme to support its work and outputs. The successful person will be someone who is flexible, innovative, and proactive with the ability to support a diverse team of researchers and research projects.

Brief Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in social sciences (honours preferable);
  • Experience in managing multiple projects in an organisation/s similar to SCIS (in the academic context or civil society);
  • At least 7 years of experience working in a research or similar kind of organisation;
  • Excellent project management and administrative skills with an interest in the work of the SCIS;
  • Experience with financial and technical project reporting;
  • They will be highly motivated, proactive and able to work with limited supervision;
  • Added advantage: Experience in digital transformation or emerging technologies.

This is an operational position with an attractive remuneration package and conditions of service. The post is a fixed term 3 year grant-funded post, which may be renewed subject to availability of funding.
