Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a qualified nurse to perform clinical procedures on research participants in accordance with protocol requirements and Good Clinical Practice.

You will support medical staff, manage patient care during visits, assist with triage of adverse events, and help maintain study facilities and equipment. This role requires nursing degree and SANC registration; strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing is required.
• SANC registration or eligible to register is required.
• Strong nursing skills including phlebotomy and vital signs.

The main purpose of this position is to perform clinical procedures on research participants according to protocol requirements and Good Clinical Practice.

Responsibilities

Clinical Procedures

• Perform all clinical observations and procedures as required by research protocols and on request from medical officer/study coordinator (e.g. draw blood, swabs, vital signs, infusions, injections, operating and manage infusion pumps etc.)


• Refer all related queries to medical staff and study coordinator


• Assist Medical Officer or other clinical staff with all study procedures as requested


• Ensure all clinical areas and equipment are maintained in good order, check/ensure beds have clean linen etc.


• Check Medical waste boxes and bins and arrange collection thereof


• Provide participants with advice and guidance on basic medical conditions


• Assist with triage of participants with possible Adverse Events or Expedited Adverse Events

Protocol Specific Procedures

• Oversee participant visits and ensure participants move through all study procedures efficiently


• Manage the scheduled screening, consenting, enrolment and follow-up of participants including home visits if required


• Perform participant interviews and counselling as per protocol requirements


• Contact referral agencies where applicable to assist in recruiting the correct patients


• Complete all protocol and sponsor required training


• Laboratory facility maintenance

Laboratory Support

• Manage samples (or liaise with the Laboratory Technician) and arrange collection by the appropriate laboratory as per protocol requirements


• Maintain and record cold chain temperatures


• Assist laboratory staff with testing procedures ( HIV, Pregnancy, urine) and quality control when required

Study Administration

Qualifications

Education, Certification, Qualifications and Experience Needed

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing


• 2-3 years nursing experience


• SANC registration
