Placements24 is seeking a talented Research Chemist to join the Organic Synthesis team in Randburg. The role focuses on designing and executing multi-step synthetic routes and optimizing reaction conditions to create novel compounds for pharmaceuticals, materials science, and agrochemicals.

You will characterize products using NMR, MS, and HPLC, maintain detailed lab records, and collaborate with fellow chemists on projects.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry or closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in synthetic organic chemistry, including multi-step synthesis.
• Proficiency with common laboratory techniques and instrumentation for synthesis and characterization.
• Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and stereochemistry.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are essential for this role in Randburg.
