Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to support our Pharmacology research group in Port Elizabeth. This hybrid role covers bench work, data collection, and remote analysis, aiding senior scientists in drug discovery and development.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant life sciences degree, gain hands-on lab experience, and contribute to reports and presentations. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and good organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a life science field.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques relevant to pharmacological research, such as cell culture, ELISAs, or basic analytical chemistry.
• Familiarity with drug discovery processes and experimental design in pharmacology.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and reporting.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory experiments in pharmacology and related disciplines, including drug screening, dose-response assays, and in vitro studies.
• Accurately prepare and administer test compounds, collect experimental data, and maintain detailed records in compliance with laboratory protocols.
• Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and summaries of experimental results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, manage inventory of supplies, and ensure a safe and organized working environment.
• Operate and maintain standard laboratory instrumentation relevant to pharmacological research.
• Collaborate with team members on experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting common laboratory issues.
