Job Title: Reporting And Special Projects Analyst - Finance (Non-Life)

Introduction

This role's main focus is to provide support to the Non-Life Finance executive in the execution of their reporting responsibilities and key management accounting related objectives, and to play a key enabling and overseeing role in Guardrisk group-wide projects and initiatives in managing the day-to-day functioning of the financial reporting functions.

Requirements

  2. Matric Qualification
  3. At least 3 - 5 years post qualification experience in finance in an insurance or other financial services environment
  4. At least 5 - 7 years' experience in International Financial Reporting Standards
  5. At least 3 years' experience in Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) practices and philosophy

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Continuously develop own expertise in terms of professional, industry, legislation, and technological knowledge.
  2. Contribute to and help create platforms that facilitate the creation of strategic partnerships with business leaders in order to understand business priorities, challenges, and requirements.
  3. Collaborate with senior and executive management to formulate short and long-term strategic financial objectives and operating strategies for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the segment, as well as the overall financial, business, and operational strategy of the Group.
  4. Oversee the design of effective and efficient futuristic financial modelling in driving the business strategy and new business ventures.
  5. Support the development of new business initiatives (e.g., strategic initiatives or business cases) by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities, unpacking the financial implications and making recommendations regarding the financial viability of new business.
  6. Provide executive management within the group with advice and support on the financial and risk implications of business activities and provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  7. Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities for both Guardrisk and Clients.
  8. Build and maintain effective business relationships with Momentum Metropolitan's Group Finance in order to manage service delivery in line with business expectations and requirements.
  9. Establish and comply with finance governance principles and structures within the business unit in line with finance best practice (IFRS, SAM etc.).
  10. Manage and minimize the company's and clients financial risk exposure by developing and maintaining systems control and review, liaising with other functions as appropriate.
  11. Support the planning and management of internal audit, external audit, and other control functions in collaboration with the risk team.
  12. Provide direction for continuous improvement efforts by managing the identification of opportunities, cost reduction, improvements, and systems enhancement.
  13. Understand and analyse the profitability and growth drivers for the business and ensure that the key insights are well understood by the management and executive team.
  14. Assist in formulating cost optimization and other innovative ideas that add value to the business.
  15. Ensure that sound financial controls and practices are in place within the segment and in the respective products and solutions centre of excellence to ensure the segment delivers on its stated financial objectives.
  16. Drive understanding of financial and risk concepts across the business.
  17. Perform reviews on the monthly financial performance of the overall Guardrisk group (including the individual business units) and give feedback on monthly finance results to relevant stakeholders on agreed upon intervals.
  18. Perform an independent review of financial results to help identify problem areas for improvement or intervention.
  19. Facilitate and build relationships with senior executives to identify and resolve high risk problem areas and contentious issues that need to be managed in more detail within the reporting space in a professional manner.
  20. Coordinate & assist the finance executive and Chief Financial Officer to devise, track and report on financial strategic initiatives that support the overall business strategic plans and objectives.
  21. Analyse and review the monthly financial performance vs set benchmarks, collaborate with the business unit heads within Guardrisk in reviewing and completing the following recurring deliverables.
  22. Analyse and provide insights (and report on) management performance against industry standards and peers/competitors.
  23. Ensure a detailed understanding of the internal reporting systems to enhance and standardize financial and operational reporting processes for the business making reporting as efficient as possible to support key decision-making initiatives.
  24. Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  25. Drive the simplification of key management accounting information, processes, controls and improvement of financial performance measures in support of internal decision-making structures.
  26. Assist with the budgeting process, prepare and present budget variance reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and providing actionable insights to drive decision-making where needed.
  27. Provide decision making support and recommendations regarding the management information presented to the relevant business unit MANCO's, group EXCO the Guardrisk CFO as well as other monthly management meetings.
  28. Collaborate with both Guardrisk's business unit heads and the Momentum group reporting functions in providing management information and reporting as required for various governance structures and for regulatory purposes.
  29. Drive collaboration between all stakeholders with respect to financial reporting and financial control related matters.
  30. Provide portfolio support and management/servicing by working closely with the portfolio managers, accountants, reinsurance team and other colleagues.
  31. Lead and oversee ad hoc financial projects from initiation to completion and ensure timely delivery.
  32. Give input into, manage and control ad hoc and strategic projects by providing financial reports, analysis and insights.
  33. Contribute to the design and development of Guardrisk strategies, policies and practices and oversee the implementation of strategies, policies and practices within the wider group.
