Job Description
To assist the Laboratory Administrator in effectively overseeing the administrative functions of the division as well as maintaining customer communication.
- Maintaining the LIMS system.
- Complies and conforms to the laboratory quality management system (ISO17025 and SANAS).
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
- Printing and emailing of test reports.
- Invoicing completed work as per agreed rates.
- Assist the department with general administrative tasks (filing, copying, creating customized reporting templates, reconciliations, updating spreadsheets).
- Assist the department with maintaining a status of outstanding work and follow up with the lab regarding expected reporting dates.
- Assist the Section Manager with contract review and proposal issues.
- Coordinate customer enquiries and queries.
- Assist in the monthly stock counts within the department.
- Assist with monthly payroll duties.
Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an administrative position.
- Laboratory background would be an advantage.
- Chemistry-related qualification would be an advantage.

- Apply Check Status process and use Stop Work Authority when risks are not clearly controlled.
- Report faulty equipment or deviations from protocols to the supervisor.
- Assist in investigations and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Assist in training employees as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in all work areas.
- Participate in HSE procedures, safety talks, and training.
- Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the line manager and maintain a clean working environment.
