POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a proactive, technically skilled and hands-on Repair & Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Sandton,
Johannesburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and upgrading electronic and
technical products, with a particular focus on security cameras, digital recorders and related electronic equipment.
Candidates with hands-on repair experience in CCTV/security products, mobile phone repairs, consumer electronics,
electronic equipment, appliances or other technical repair environments will be considered.
The role requires strong technical problem-solving ability, attention to detail, good documentation practices and the ability to
communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Repair & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose, investigate and resolve technical faults relating to electronic, mechanical, optical, software and hardware components.
- Perform hands-on repair, adjustment, rework and maintenance of security cameras, digital recorders and other electronic products.
- Troubleshoot electronic circuits, components, connectivity issues and product faults.
- Identify the root cause of technical problems and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Repair defective products in accordance with company quality standards and approved repair procedures.
- Conduct testing and quality checks following repairs to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Perform software updates, firmware upgrades and other product-related technical updates as required.
- Use appropriate diagnostic tools, testing equipment and technical procedures to identify faults and complete repairs.
- Interpret basic product and camera structural drawings, diagrams and technical documentation.
Customer & Technical Support
- Respond to customer service requests and technical concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Consult with customers and users to understand technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
- Provide clear technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance where required.
- Communicate repair findings, technical issues and recommended solutions to customers and relevant internal stakeholders.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical matters to the Maintenance Supervisor or relevant technical personnel.
- Maintain professional communication with customers, colleagues, management and other related parties at all times.
Repair Records, Reporting & Analysis
- Accurately record all repairs, faults, resolutions, software updates and related technical information in the company's systems.
- Maintain accurate records of service requests and repair activities.
- Analyse repair information and identify recurring faults, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding repair activities and product performance.
- Track the results of product and process improvements.
- Provide recommendations and practical solutions to improve product quality, repair efficiency and reliability.
Maintenance & Process Improvement
- Assist with preventive repair, maintenance and product upgrade projects.
- Assist in standardising the repair area, processes, methods, tools and equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve repair procedures and reduce recurring product faults.
- Assist with initiatives aimed at improving product quality and technical performance.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with special technical projects as required.
- Assist with monitoring and controlling repair inventory, spare parts, tools and technical supplies where required.
Teamwork & Training
- Work collaboratively with repair staff, customer service personnel and management to ensure repair services meet company quality standards.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with assigning and coordinating service requests where required.
- Assist with training and developing customer service and repair personnel on relevant technical processes.
- Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to colleagues where appropriate.
- Participate in training seminars and technical development programmes as requested.
- Assist other team members with technical and operational duties as required.
General Duties

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years' hands-on technical repair or maintenance experience.
- Practical experience working with electronic, mechanical or technical equipment.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits and troubleshooting principles.
- Ability to diagnose and repair technical faults using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Ability to understand basic technical drawings, diagrams and product structures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good technical documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- CCTV / surveillance product repair experience.
- Security camera and/or DVR/NVR repair experience.
- Electronic equipment repair.
- Mobile phone or smartphone repair.
- Consumer electronics repair.
- Appliance or electronic device repair.
- Hardware repair and maintenance.
- PCB/electronic circuit troubleshooting.
- Experience with firmware/software updates on electronic products.
- Experience working in an RMA, repair centre, technical workshop or after-sales environment.
