Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Lead Software Engineer to drive technical direction while leading a fully remote team. You will mentor engineers, design scalable architectures, and own end-to-end delivery of critical product initiatives from anywhere in Gauteng or beyond.

The role requires 8+ years in software development with at least 3 years in leadership, strong expertise in Java/Python/C++/JavaScript, and deep knowledge of AWS/Azure/GCP, microservices, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, JavaScript) and associated frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience in leading agile development teams and managing complex software projects.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers.
• Design scalable architectures and systems.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and project requirements.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure the quality and efficiency of the codebase.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
