Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Architect for a fully remote role. You will lead the design and implementation of scalable software systems, defining architectural patterns and technical standards while guiding distributed teams from anywhere in South Africa.

The role requires deep cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) expertise, strong microservices and DevOps experience, and the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate with product managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in software development, with at least 5 years in architect/lead role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages and architectural styles (Microservices, Event-Driven).
• Excellent understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document high-level software architecture, including system components, interfaces, and data flows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a software architect or lead technical role.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex, large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#) and architectural styles (e.g., Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture).
• Excellent understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical teams in a remote setting.
• Strong understanding of system security principles.
