Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Nanotechnology Researcher to lead innovative projects in nanoscale science and engineering. This remote SA role focuses on designing, fabricating, and characterizing novel nanomaterials and nanodevices for electronics, drug delivery, and energy solutions.

You will apply quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, and surface chemistry to hands-on nanofabrication, mentor researchers, and publish in top journals. Remote work enables collaboration across South Africa.

Qualifications

• PhD in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral research experience in nanotechnology with leadership.
• Expertise in nanofabrication, nanoscale synthesis, and advanced characterization.
• Strong publication and presentation record.
• Strong knowledge of quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, and surface chemistry.
• Proficiency in data analysis and scientific visualization tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Passion for pushing the boundaries of nanotechnology.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on design, synthesis, and characterization of nanomaterials.
• Develop fabrication techniques for functional nanodevices.
• Analyze material properties at the nanoscale using advanced tools.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on new nanotech applications.
