Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize heavy industrial machinery from a home office. You will use SolidWorks or AutoCAD Inventor and FEAs to ensure integrity of components such as power transmission systems, bearings, and gears.

Collaboration with controls engineers and mentoring junior engineers is expected. You will work on advanced design problems, oversee prototyping, and deliver detailed drawings, BOMs, and instructions while staying

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 6 years of experience designing industrial machinery or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software and structural/dynamic analysis is essential.

Responsibilities

You will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of complex mechanical systems for heavy-duty industrial equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical components and systems for heavy industrial machinery using advanced CAD software.
• Perform structural analysis (FEA), dynamic analysis, and stress calculations to ensure component integrity and performance.
• Specify materials, bearings, gearboxes, and other power transmission components.
• Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with automation components.
• Oversee the prototyping and testing of new designs, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials, and assembly instructions.
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing team and customers regarding mechanical aspects of the machinery.
• Stay current with advancements in industrial machinery design, manufacturing technologies, and relevant industry standards.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers working remotely on project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the design of industrial machinery, heavy equipment, or similar mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor) and FEA tools.
• Strong knowledge of machine design principles, including statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and fluid power.
• Experience with material selection and manufacturing processes relevant to heavy industry.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Familiarity with mining or materials handling equipment is a significant advantage.
• Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software is desirable.
