Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our fully remote team supporting projects across South Africa, with a focus on Port Elizabeth and Eastern Cape developments. You will apply advanced geotechnical methods, supervise design work, and mentor junior engineers from a home office.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional geotechnical experience with a diverse project portfolio.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W or similar advanced modeling tools.
• Ability to manage projects independently and deliver remotely with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical analyses and design of foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for projects nationwide.
• Interpret subsurface investigation data, including soil and rock properties, to develop reports.
• Provide expert technical advice and support to project managers, clients, and site teams remotely.
• Develop and implement ground improvement strategies and slope stability solutions.
• Review and approve geotechnical designs prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Ensure all geotechnical recommendations comply with South African geotechnical standards and best practices.
