Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Data Scientist (Remote) to lead predictive analytics initiatives for diverse SA clients. You will design, develop, and deploy advanced statistical models, translating data into actionable business insights while collaborating with data engineers and stakeholders.

The role requires a PhD/MA in a quantitative field, 6+ years of experience, and strong Python/R and SQL skills; experience with Spark and BI tools is advantageous.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in data science and predictive modeling roles.
• Proven expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series forecasting).
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, and NumPy.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with large datasets and distributed computing (e.g., Spark).
• Excellent understanding of statistical concepts and experimental design.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated predictive models using machine learning and statistical techniques.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Clean, transform, and preprocess data to prepare it for modeling.
• Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate model performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into data science problems.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences through visualizations and reports.
• Deploy models into production environments and monitor performance.
• Stay current with advancements in data science, ML, and AI.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the firm's knowledge base.
• Utilize Python or R and relevant libraries.
