Placements24 is seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer to join our client’s team in a fully remote capacity. You will lead coastal protection and marine projects, applying advanced hydrodynamics and sediment transport knowledge.

You will mentor junior engineers, prepare technical reports, and liaise with clients and regulators. The role emphasizes sustainable, resilient coastal solutions and flexible work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 9 years of specialized experience in coastal and marine engineering.
• Extensive experience with coastal modeling software (Delft3D, MIKE 21, XBeach, Mike FLOOD).
• Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, wave theory, coastal geomorphology, and sediment dynamics.
• Proven experience in the design of various types of coastal and marine structures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration and client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptualization, design, and implementation of coastal protection and marine projects.
• Conduct numerical modeling and analysis of waves, currents, tides, and sediment transport.
• Design breakwaters, seawalls, groynes, jetties, and artificial reefs.
• Perform hydraulic and structural analysis for marine structures under environmental loads.
• Develop detailed designs, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
• Liaise with clients, agencies, environmental consultants, and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior coastal engineers and technicians.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and EIAs.
• Ensure designs comply with codes and regulations.
• Stay updated on research, technologies, and best practices.
• Contribute to business development and client relationships.
