Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect to join our global fintech client’s fully remote team. You will design, implement, and govern scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a focus on security, reliability, and cost efficiency.

You will lead cloud strategy, oversee migrations from on-prem, and collaborate across engineering, security, and operations to ensure best practices and governance in a remote South Africa environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture for enterprise-scale solutions.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding global fintech company, is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Solutions Architect to join their fully remote workforce. This is a critical role focused on designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for defining the cloud strategy, architecting cloud solutions across various services, and ensuring best practices are followed for optimal performance and cost-efficiency. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa, contributing to transformative projects within the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud-based solutions on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Develop and maintain the overall cloud architecture strategy and roadmap for the organization. Lead the migration of existing on-premises applications and infrastructure to the cloud. Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. Define and enforce cloud governance, security policies, and compliance standards. Optimize cloud resource utilization for cost efficiency and performance improvements. Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud technologies and best practices. Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to meet business requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong focus on enterprise-level solutions. Proven expertise in designing and implementing solutions on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP). Deep understanding of cloud networking, security, storage, compute, and database services. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools. Excellent understanding of security best practices in cloud environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly preferred.
