Placements24 is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team focused on revolutionizing the renewable energy sector. You will design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python and Django to power a scalable platform.

You will build RESTful APIs, optimize PostgreSQL databases, and contribute to architecture, testing, and performance improvements in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL, including schema design and optimization.
• Familiarity with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Git.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable and high-performance backend services using Python and Django.
• Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs to support frontend applications and third-party integrations.
• Develop and manage efficient database schemas and queries, primarily with PostgreSQL.
• Implement and maintain automated testing suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver features and improvements.
• Optimize application performance and identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and upholding coding standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and extensive experience with the Django framework.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design and optimization.
• Familiarity with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git.
• Understanding of microservices architecture is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote team environment.
