Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Remote Renewable Energy Policy Advisor in South Africa to shape policy frameworks for renewable energy growth. You will conduct in-depth research, analyze policies, and develop evidence-based recommendations for government, industry, and civil society in a fully remote setup.

You will engage stakeholders, monitor regulatory developments, and contribute to strategic planning while collaborating with experts to strengthen policy recommendations for a sustainable energy future.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Public Policy, Law, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a specialization in energy policy.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy policy analysis, advocacy, or research, with a focus on renewable energy.
• In-depth knowledge of South African energy sector policies, including IE regulations and IPP procurement programs.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze national and regional renewable energy policies, regulations, and market trends.
• Develop policy briefs, reports, and white papers on key issues affecting renewable energy deployment.
• Advise government bodies, industry stakeholders, and NGOs on policy development and reform.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the energy sector.
• Engage in stakeholder consultations and facilitate dialogues to build consensus on policy issues.
• Organize and participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences related to renewable energy policy.
• Collaborate with internal research teams and external experts to strengthen policy recommendations.
• Communicate complex policy issues clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
• Contribute to strategic planning and fundraising efforts for policy initiatives.
• Track and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented renewable energy policies.

Our client, a prominent think tank and advocacy group focused on clean energy, is seeking a highly knowledgeable Remote Renewable Energy Policy Advisor. This role is instrumental in shaping and influencing policy frameworks that support the growth of renewable energy in South Africa. You will conduct in-depth research, analyze current policies, and develop evidence-based recommendations for government, industry, and civil society. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from your preferred location while contributing to significant policy developments.
