Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Project Accountant to support a divestiture. This hybrid, fixed-term contract position is based in Woodlands, Johannesburg, within the Specialty Diagnostics Group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant financial accounting experience.
• Strong hands-on financial accounting experience including month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Demonstrated project management experience coordinating workstreams, deliverables and timelines.
• Experience with SARS and regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Finance Manager with finance-related project workstreams and deliverables for the divestiture.
• Coordinate and track finance project activities, actions, dependencies, risks and milestones.
• Provide hands-on project accounting support and ensure accurate accounting for project activities.
• Support month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting and core accounting activities.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure policy compliance.
• Manage SARS requirements, including tax and statutory submissions and engagements.
• Partner with Finance, Tax, Legal and Operations to support project execution.
• Assist with data preparation, analysis and reconciliations for separation activities.
• Help establish finance processes and controls for the remaining business.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
