About the Role

Our client, a global leader in the petrochemical sector, is seeking a dedicated Remote Process Engineer to support their operations. This position is entirely remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing continuous petrochemical processes, ensuring maximum efficiency, safety, and product quality. Your role will involve leveraging advanced simulation tools, data analytics, and remote monitoring systems to provide critical support to on-site teams. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of petrochemical unit operations and a proven ability to work effectively in a virtual environment. This role is crucial for maintaining operational excellence and driving continuous improvement across our client's production facilities, including those near Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Remotely monitor and analyze process data to identify deviations and opportunities for optimization
• Develop and implement process control strategies to enhance stability, yield, and safety
• Utilize process simulation software to model scenarios, predict outcomes, and troubleshoot issues
• Collaborate with on-site engineers and operators via virtual platforms to resolve operational challenges
• Conduct root cause analyses for process upsets and implement corrective actions
• Prepare detailed reports on process performance, efficiency improvements, and optimization initiatives
• Support the development and implementation of new process technologies
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in process operations
• Participate in virtual process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of remote operational support protocols

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, with a significant focus on petrochemical or refinery operations
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II) and data analysis tools
• Strong understanding of unit operations such as distillation, reaction engineering, and heat transfer
• Experience with process control systems (DCS) and advanced process control (APC) is desirable
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Proven ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team setting
• Strong written communication skills for clear and concise reporting
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to manage time effectively
• Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools and platforms is essential
