Placements24 is representing a global mining leader seeking a Principal Mining Engineer (Metallurgy) to join a fully remote team. The role focuses on optimizing mineral processing and recovery, providing strategic technical leadership from a remote setting.

You will lead metallurgical development across diverse ore bodies, mentor engineers, drive process simulation using tools like MetSIM and JKSimMet, and collaborate with geology, operations, and R&D in a virtual environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 10–15 years of progression in mineral processing and metallurgy.
• Experience with mineral processing circuits and equipment.
• Experience with process simulation and modeling software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of metallurgical processes for diverse ore bodies.
• Provide expert technical consultation on comminution, flotation, leaching, and other processing methods.
• Oversee design and upgrades of metallurgical plants.
• Analyze data to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations.
• Mentor junior engineers remotely and develop best practices.
• Stay updated on emerging metallurgy technologies and trends.
• Collaborate with geology, operations, and R&D in a virtual environment.
