Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Media Communications Executive to lead media strategy, manage journalist relations, and enhance the public profile of our client in South Africa. The role is located in Mahikeng, North West, with a fully remote arrangement offering flexibility to contribute from anywhere in the country.

You will develop and execute media plans, craft press releases, monitor coverage, coordinate interviews, and support crisis communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• 3–5 years in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications.
• Proven success in securing media coverage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong storytelling.
• Deep knowledge of the South African media landscape.
• Proficiency with media monitoring tools.
• Experience working remotely and self-management.
• Experience in the North West province is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic media communication plans to meet organizational objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and media influencers.
• Craft press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
• Secure positive media placements across print, online, and broadcast.
• Monitor media activity and provide insights and recommendations.
• Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews for company spokespeople.
• Assist in planning and executing media events and press conferences.
• Support development and implementation of crisis communication strategies.
• Stay up-to-date with media trends, platforms, and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal marketing and communications teams for message consistency.
