Placements24 seeks a Lead Computational Biologist to drive AI/ML in drug discovery from anywhere in South Africa. You will lead a team of computational scientists, developing algorithms to analyze complex biological data and optimize lead compounds.

The role requires a PhD in a quantitative field, 7+ years in computational biology or data science, and strong Python/R/TensorFlow/PyTorch experience. Remote, SA-wide collaboration with a cutting-edge team.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, CS, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in computational biology or data science focused on drug discovery.
• Proven leadership of scientific teams and projects.
• Strong ML expertise (deep learning, reinforcement learning, Bayesian methods) applied to biology.
• Proficiency in Python or R with TensorFlow/PyTorch/scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML model development for drug discovery.
