Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Lead 5G Network Architect to drive the evolution of our nationwide 5G infrastructure. The role oversees core, RAN, and transport design, shaping strategies and roadmaps for deployment, including network slicing and edge computing.

You will guide technology selection, set standards, and partner with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure successful launches, while mentoring junior staff in a remote-work environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 10+ years in telecommunications network design, architecture, deployment; at least 5 years focusing on 5G.
• Deep understanding of 5G NR, NSA/SA architecture, 5G Core (AMF, SMF, UPF), and transport network technologies.
• Proven experience with network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Familiarity with cloud-native principles and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of RF principles, radio access network (RAN) design, and capacity planning.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated success in architecting large-scale telecommunications networks in a remote work setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and development of our nationwide 5G network, encompassing core network, RAN, and transport layers.
• Define technical strategies and roadmaps for 5G deployment, including network slicing, edge computing, and IoT integration.
• Evaluate and select new technologies, vendors, and solutions to optimize network performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and enforce network standards, guidelines, and best practices for 5G architecture and implementation.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure successful network launches and service delivery.
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and architects.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential network vulnerabilities and performance issues.
• Represent the company in industry forums and technical discussions related to 5G architecture and standards.
